Tidycade 0.3.0 - Free Game Launcher for Ubuntu

This update adds Widelands, an economy and settlement strategy game. The library now has nine games. Previous numbered downloads stay available.

Browse nine games with cover art, install what you want, and open your installed games from one library. No Python installation or terminal commands are needed for the launcher.

Download and open

  1. Download games-launcher-0.3.0-ubuntu-x86_64.tar.gz below. This is for 64-bit Intel/AMD Ubuntu, not Windows or ARM.
  2. Extract the archive into a folder you can write to.
  3. Double-click games-launcher-ubuntu-x86_64. Your configured default browser opens the library. A browser must already be installed and set as the default.

The launcher is about 7 MB. Games download separately when you click Install; some are over 1 GB. The library includes Pocket the Place, Platform Pests, OpenTTD, SuperTuxKart, Shattered Pixel Dungeon, Xonotic, Naev, OpenTyrian and Widelands. Third-party games download unchanged from their official sources.

Keep your games and progress

Keep the home folder beside the launcher when replacing or moving it. Uninstall keeps launcher save folders. Browser-game progress depends on using the same browser profile and game address; changing browsers, profiles or ports can make that progress unavailable. Native games may also store settings in your usual user folders.

Limits

  • This release contains only the Ubuntu launcher. See the downloads page for current Windows test builds and their compatibility limits.
  • Game installation and opening have been checked, not every level or hardware configuration. Game hardware requirements still apply; 3D games may run slowly without suitable graphics support.
  • Xonotic shows its own first-run service terms. You decide whether to accept them.
  • Naev and Widelands use their built-in extraction fallback, so no FUSE setup step is needed.

The .sha256 file is an optional integrity check for the archive. Expected SHA-256: 0dab755f4973f0218f4f10a79a2c408353402c14cf37b22b785f99c7f8b2d015.

GitHub also shows automatic "Source code" links. They contain this downloads page, not the launcher. Choose the named Ubuntu archive above.

The download and the app still use their original generic Games Launcher names inside. This older download uses the original Games Launcher name inside the app.
