  • I was looking for a solution to run Thunderbird on a USB drive and move between various flavors of Windows and Unix. Thunderbird portable is not a viable option. I am looking for a commercial version of a good email program that will let me do this. Under Ubuntu (latest), it is so slow that it is unusable. The first time I installed it, it would not run under wine and had to log a bug report. It takes a long time to launch under Windows 7. With these apparent problems you would think the developers use it and would remedy the problems. The community is dead, this is sloppy work and overall has been a huge waste of time. I tried upgrading Thunderbird portable and move my profile but each time I tried, the .ini file overwrote my settings and created a new file. I could never specify my profile directory in the .ini file. There is not testing or quality assurance before this terd is released to the public. Overall a fail. If this is open source, then open source is not for me. I do not want to download the source code and fix the problem. Every free software project and open source project will eventually fail. It may take a decade but in the end you are left with a pile of crap that no one is interested in working on and no one wants to use. The only successful software is software that has paid developers. I hate M$ but they are right in this one area (not that they produce better software but Outlook is a much better option this one time). seriously. I only rated this one star because 0 is not an option.
