TextWedge is a text-file splitter with an editor interface, or a text editor with a file splitting interface. It provides a number of splitting criteria: byte count, line count, hits on search terms, and the lines where the values of sort keys change.

The program worked quite well for me. Others have noted it doesn't work well with large files; mine was about 80MB, so it works there, anyway. It took a moment to load the file, but once the file loaded and it actually started the split, it was quite fast. I'd give the ease of use five stars, but I wish I could set it to split at specified intervals rather than having to list each breaking point. I didn't need support, but marked support as a 3 because it's not been updated in several years, in spite of complaints that it doesn't handle large files very well.

I do believe this is a conceptually good project, but it doesn't work with large files, where it is needed the most. Also it doesn't show a progress bar while loading. For large files, this may leave user unsure whether the loading time will be viable.

Great tool, works well for me on XP and Windows 7, recommended.

Interface could be simplified. Also, after clicking the 'Sort Wizard', a dialog box (probably for debugging) appears for every instance of an empty line in the file, forcing user to press OK until every empty line is processed, or kill the program.
