Adds telemetry and error tracking. Details about this change from the PR:
terminal-browser will now periodically report if a user is actively using terminal-browser, and when there are crashes. These events will come attached with an installation specific UUID so that the data can be correlated, which allows me to track if a user stops using the project, without collecting any identifying data about the user.
Many controls are added to opt out of telemetry & error reporting:
telemetry:
- DO_NOT_TRACK=1
- TERMINAL_BROWSER_NO_TELEMETRY=1
- disabling via the settings GUI in general
- terminal-browser config set telemetry.usage off
error tracking:
- DO_NOT_TRACK=1
- TERMINAL_BROWSER_NO_TELEMETRY=1
- disabling via the settings GUI in general
- terminal-browser config set telemetry.crashReports off
My intention is to collect the least amount of data possible that will still help me improve the project. Knowing how many people are using the project, and how that changes over time, influences the project significantly! Install:
:::sh
curl -fsSL https://terminal-browser.sh/install | bash
