---------------------------------

1. Description

Tahoe2011_ALPHA is a generic, all-purpose database scheme for
MySQL. It can also be described as "A DDL free Database Scheme". This has been reached in that
Tahoe2011_ALPHA stores the meta data not as a part of a database scheme model,
usually expressed in form of table definitions, but, instead, in specially, predefined tables - so to say -"metatables" .
Tahoe2011_ALPHA is a part of a whole product line called "Broadway".

2. Design Concerns

The most important design rule is already expressed in the Description section and includes the existence of metadata
as a content within a fix - database scheme.
The next paradigm is the primary usage of models and a model - driven development, almost forcing us to concentrate on generation
instead of writing the source code. The next one is the awarenesss of historical changes making us pay special attention to
time-variance and nonvolatility of historical data. The whole Broadway Product Line assumes this approach.
This also leads us to lend towards splitting the data instead of loosing it.
The last paradigm that we follow is feature addition rather then redefinition, taking care in this way of
backward compatibilty and business continuity.

3. When to use Tahoe2011_ALPHA.

3.1. for stable assets administration part in a volatile envirinment (like machines in the production line as opposed to the production process itself).
3.2. for unstable data structures (like Use Case Modelling in IT projects).
3.3. for lots of hierarchies (like using parallel assessment systems or analysis patterns in one and the same system).
3.5. for redundant data (like those extracted from the data warehouse).
3.4. for cross-type and multi-type relations (like an employee who works for 2 departments simultaneously).
3.5. for experimental systems.
3.6. for ustructured data (store first - structure later approach).

4. When not to use Tahoe2011_ALPHA.

4.1. on fast online processing database structures [ fast OLTPs ] (it will not be faster).
4.2. on large analytical database structures with long running queries [ large OLAPs ] (it will take even longer).
