sutil

'sutil' is a collection of software - programs, libraries and scripts developed along a few decades (since 1983) in the free-open-source spirit, with the purpose to assist, expedite, optimize and improve the efficiency of operating system support activities, software development and operating system administration on unix and linux platforms.

Installation

Just use the GNU style:

unpack the '.tar.gz' file

tar xfz sutil-???.tar.gz

go to the distrubution directory just created

cd sutil-???
./configure 
make 

finally - if you want and can :

$ sudo make install

Usage

all (or most) of the programs and scripts have a '--help' flag and a 'man' page to assist usage.

(when executed withou any flags or parameters (just the command), a short help message is displayed)

for example:

$ tyz
>>> 'tyz' : no options specified
Try 'tyz --help' for more information.

License

not all programs and scritps have the same license; the following licenses are mainly and mostly used:

all licences above mean "free open source software" ("foss" for short).

project status

most of these programs are still under active development and/or evolution; when appropriate, some versions are marked 'stable'; and 'nightly' , 'l8st' (or 'latest') releases are just that - no warranties as usual;

support or bug report

is available thru the usual channels on the public repositories below:

VERY IMPORTANT ***

although quite a few programs here are expressly meant to be executed 'as root', I strongly recommend to never - seriously - ever use ANY OTHER program (not just these here) with 'root' privileges UNLESS you absolutely undoubtedly KNOW very well what you are doing, and you are prepared to CLEAN up any consequential mess.
