Surrogatus is a small inexpensive computer, approx. the size of a USB hub that runs Linux on a firmware and has many different uses pertaining to privacy and security. The word "surrogatus" is latin for "used as a surrogate".
- The surrogatus system is a small rectangular box with four USB ports (2 on each long side) and two LAN ports (1 on each opposite short end).
- The system has no keyboard, internal storage (with the exception of RAM, of course, and that containing the firmware). It can use USB thumbdrives and other USB peripherals, however.
- The surrogatus system has many different uses. For example it can be used as a proxy between your actual computer and the internet, allowing people (in repressed political environments) to surf the web without leaving a trace on their own PC, to determine if apps on their PC try to call home, or to run security checks on their PC.
