StaxRip is a powerful video/audio encoding GUI for Windows. It executes and controls console apps such as x265, mkvmerge, ffmpeg, etc. and uses scripting based frame servers, AviSynth+ and VapourSynth, for video processing.

  • Excelent soft for encoding!
  • The 10-bit support is why I came over from MeGui. Some components are a little outdated. No one else has the GUI guided x265 options. Overall, great job. I'm very pleased. Thanks a lot.
  • StaxRip is really going great guns. It's the best software to use the power and quality as provided by Intel H264 CPU enabled encoding. Nvidea Graphics based systems may do equally well. The latest Version V2.2.2.1 has GUI facility to try various settings. The default mode VQP is the best to get smallest size with decent quality. I do not understand much about technicalities of these settings, but they can be tweaked by simply varying parameters and see the size and quality of transcoding. I am amazed to find a very decent quality of a DVD ripped video at 1/6 its original size and a resized very good quality at 1/3 the size. VQP has the following default settings. Quality/Speed ------Best QP I =24 Qp P=26 Qp B=27 B Frames = 3 Ref Frames (zero=Auto) =0 GOP Length (Zero=Auto) =0 This in itself gives a very decent quality for copied and then covered DVD videos to Intel H264 at almost 1/6 to 1/8th the Size! Quality can be increased by decreasing values of QP I, P and B values leaving B frames, Ref frames and GOP lengths to default unchanged, size also grows accordingly. Similar effect can be found by increasing values of B frames, Ref Frames and GOP length even when QP parameters are left to default. Lower values of QP and high B frames(8), Ref frames(8) and GOP length(500 Frames) will show increased quality and vice versa. Another great feature is that software based H264 encoding loads CPU to 100% and CPU core temperatures touches nearly 80 degrees. Intel H264 is 3 times faster, CPU load will be not beyond 20 to 30%, temperatures not beyond 60 to 65 Degrees. It's unbelievable! I am unable to find much difference in quality between Software encoding and StaxRip enabled Intel hardware enabled encoding. Right now I am redoing my DVD videos conversion as the quality of transcoding with intel i7 CPU Hardware encoding gives a much better quality for same size compared to what I got with Intel QSV encoding using other programmes.
  • Your project is amazing. It really helps. Yes, components are little obsolete but this is not a biggest deal. Thanks!
  • Just Great!!! I use to encode and remux all to mkv, StaxRip are the best of the best. Now includes the 64-bit version of x264 and x256 !!!
