This software consists of two parts: First the logger to write the data of photovoltaic inverters made by Sputnik, especially SolarMax S Series, into a MySQL database. And second PHP webpages to visualize the logged data into an internet browser.

  • I made a fork on github.com/ubx/Solarmax-Watcher
  • Update : I ordered few days ago a Raspberry Pi with a 8Gb SD card. I installed the corresponding Debian version of the operating system on the card (Raspbian “wheezy”) and all the necessary for a LAMP server. After that I installed the Solarmax Watcher and it works perfectly on the Pi. I also transferred the SQL database which was on the PC using phpMyAdmin to the Raspberry Pi without problems. The Raspberry Pi is in my opinion a very good solution for monitoring a photovoltaic system: very cheap and stable and very low power use (between 1 and 5 watts) compared to a standard PC (50 to 100 watt). See the discussion pages for a description of the installation. Old post: Very nice software, I just installed it today for my SM3000S and it works perfectly. I use a PC with Ubuntu as host. Everything works as expected and rescaling of the graphs to match the power of the installation is very easy just editing the corresponding files for the maximal values. Maybe the not so straightforward part is the installation and use of apache and mysql for those not used to them. As I further plan to have a dedicated box with lower power use than a PC to run as a server it would be interesting to have a list boxes used successfully by other users (apparently from the previous post Pandaboard is one of those, but are there other more minimal and less expensive possibilities?)
  • I just made Solarmax Watcher running for my SM10MT. Currently I use a Pandaboard (pandaboard.org/) with Ubuntu server as host. Thanks for all the work that have been done. You can find my modified C code and a utility that builds the command message here: ftp://solarinfo:solar5647@ftp.softronics.ch/ Currently the watcher site is here but this may change in the future: 178.198.58.8/solarmax/solarertrag.php
  • Is there an installation manual available of SolarMax Watcher?
  • Thank you very much, this project helps me to run in on a synology with to inverters. i do not now much about php, but it works in the end. www.jochemvandijk.nl/solarmaxmod/solarertrag.php?wr=0
