Awesome Project. I've been using smoothwall to protect my home network for almost 10 years now. Became painfully aware of all the networking problems with connecting to the internet when I first setup my Microsoft Small Business Server and connected it to the internet....wow......it was like the worlds biggest and only honey pot....the server was completely invaded and contaminated in two days...just two days. So I had to have a greater piece of protect. Initial research led me to believe that I needed a firewall appliance in the price range of 10,000 to 15,000 USD to protect my network........then someone pointed me to Smoothwall and I have not looked back since. Smoothwall has so impressed me with its level of security.....that I completely dumped all microsoft networking products....server..email...webserver...the whole shibang right into the toilet....and I replaced it all with Linux networking solutions. FYI..Smoothwall is a Linux based security solution that is rock-solid...and it runs on older hardware...with very small hardware requirements. My Smoothwall is currently running on an old Pentium-3 system that I have placed three PCI dLink NIC's into and it is very very fast.....:) I would strongly recommend that anyone who hooks up their systems to the internet get and place a Smoothwall security system between their internal network and their isp's modem. Hi ,i think the firewall has a problem with the lag.. becouse if stay idle the smoothwall will close the connection.I only have yahoo messenger open, after some seconds of inactivity disconnects me.or some times i have to wait to load google.com ... when is idle..

been using it for about 2 years now...and its the best free firewall you can get..if you want better, ell you gonna have to pay..

i have been using smoothwall for about 5yrs and counting including running the old smoothwall 2.0 smoothwall never had a version 1.0 it was 0.9
