SkoolOS is a free Knoppix-based Linux distribution designed for high school and college students. It is oriented towards Computer Science students, and contains a variety of programming tools and environments, plus cool apps for any serious student!
Features
- SkoolOS is based on Knoppix Linux, an operating system well-known for its out-of-the-box compatability with many computers and hardware setups.
- SkoolOS can be installed to a thumb drive, and can save settings and files across restarts. No installation required; in fact, a computer doesn' t even need a hard drive to run SkoolOS!
- SkoolOS can even be used as a host operating system for an entire computer lab. It's as simple as connecting netbooting thin clients to a server running SkoolOS. TFTP netboot can be setup using a graphical wizard, so anyone with a little networking experience can do it!
- SkoolOS is currently for 32 bit x86 Intel processors only. Keep in mind it should still work on newer x64 processors.
