Semantra now runs on macOS, Windows and Linux. You can search text, PDFs, images, audio and video together, entirely on your own computer, with Google's EmbeddingGemma 2.

- Signing: the Mac apps are signed and notarized by Apple, and the Windows installer is code-signed.
- Size: each download is about 1 GB, because the AI model is bundled so everything works offline.
- In-app updates: if you have 0.2.2 on an Apple Silicon Mac, Semantra will offer this update automatically.
What's new in 0.3.0
- Windows, Linux and Intel Macs.
- Apple Silicon Macs keep the fastest engine, Apple's MLX.
- Other computers run the same model through ONNX Runtime, using the graphics card where available.
- Results and highlighting match across platforms.
- Media on every platform. Images, audio and video work on Windows and Linux too, including iPhone HEIC photos and most video formats.
- In-app updates on every platform.
Notes
- On computers without a supported graphics card, indexing large media libraries (video especially) is much slower than on a Mac.
- Camera RAW photos can be searched on macOS only.
