To start the application on any platform that has .jar files registered to Java, just click on the file. 
If you don't have this, either set it up or just run the bat/sh file for your system. 

WINDOWS: click on the "run.bat" file. 

LINUX/UNIX: execute ./run.sh (be sure that it have execution permission in other case use 'chmod 555 run.sh') if you need debug information execute ./debug.sh 
You can specify the file to open directly from command line, e.g. 
./run.sh -f myPwd.sdm 
./debug.sh -f myPwd.sdm

If you would like to customize your available Types, please review and modify the "type-list-mapping.xml" file. 
This file has been placed inside the .jar file. 
Any Zip application can open this up. Modify the file and place it in your local user home directory, or in the same directory as the sdm.jar file, or back into the same location in the jar file.
