It originally were made to facilitate access to ddccontrol utility for quick access to the brightness of my screen (unfortunately, standard gnome applet doesn't work for me), but seems it may be used for another purposes.

While retaining the structure, control and validation needed in a financial reporting tool, we’ve managed to keep things flexible.
