  • I just created an account for this website solely so I could give this 5 stars. Sometimes the perfect little item comes along and immediately makes you go "how did I go this far in my life without ever having something like this?" Even in a gimmicky driven space like the world of tech, simplicity wins sometimes. In short, I just found my new favorite software utility. @Dev please let me know if you're still active on this site. Next time I get paid I want to send a little donation, so long as I know you'll be around to receive it.
  • Very convenient and very simple. It's a pleasure to use
  • An excellent portable application. Very good
  • love it! as someone who doesnt know s*** about working with cmd, a simple tool like this (thats even available in my language!) is the best thing u can find! big probs <3
  • Perfect for non-pro use. Very easy to use and for free! Wow! Haven't used their support.

  • Because this tool is free to use and as well due to the functionality, I love it ! From my point of view, there are two functions I do miss. 1. Because I have to review CAD files and get them sometimes only as scan or image - I would like to calibrate the ruler on the screen (Hotkey and mouse wheel), to an existing dimension ( this helps especially when zooming into the drawing) 2. A second calibration for the second axis, because some screens, software and scans are distorted. And finally I'm supporting the feature request about angular orientation, which I have seen several times in forums pointing to your software. (Then included the relation of the possible different X &Y calibration :-) I will use your tool anyway.

Hi, Screen Ruler only uses an internet connection to check for updates and download them. For update checking, it accesses https://screenruler.sourceforge.io/update.xml, which provides a static XML file with update information such as download links. Screen Ruler does not access the internet for other purposes. Hope this helps!
  • This is a great app! It's the third screen ruler I have tried and the only one I will keep. But I would have found it useful to have online access to the documentation before I downloaded the zip file. The YouTube video is rushed and difficult to follow.

  • Beautiful & lightweight; only gripe I have with it is that I am unable to freely rotate it, or haven't figured out how to.

  • I'm very happy to have found Screen Ruler, as it fulfills all my needs for making measurements. As a software developer I use it frequently. Many thanks to the author.

  • I've used a number of similar programs but this one is the first that is both opensource and lightweight. Quite flexible with functions one could expect from screen rulers. It has all the core functions of a usable app, from help, auto-updates to localization support and portable use on top of that. The beauty of it is it's rather well-written code, making it easy to extend. I've already added what I missed (that's how I found it in the first place...) - dunno if it will make it to the official version but just to be able to do that... wonderful! Well done Bluegrams! :)
