First Steps after Install

It is recommended, since any ISO is a snapshot frozen in time, to update your mirrorlist and update the system. So, after you install Salient OS open a terminal and issue:

sudo reflect

Then,

pacupd

And finally,

pacupg

Reboot if it is suggested.

General Updates

Replaced the three panel paradigm that has been previously provided, with a single top panel and bottom dock-like panel.

Fixed a few regressions and configuration options.

Fixed i3wm launch i3-sensible-terminal as floating mode. Previously this hung.

Changed Calamares NetInstall configuration to split between Drivers and Software selections at install time.

You can now select at install time what you would like to install. This obviously adds to the time it takes to install overall as these packages are downloaded during the install process.

If you want Pipewire, the group installs pipewire and all support applications it requires to function with Alsa, Jack and Pulseaudio support.

Virtualbox can now be selected for the various flavours of the Linux type you choose (linux-lts, linux-zen etc).

Added Geforcenow (electron) to the repo. Refresh mirrors, (pacman -Syy) and, then to install it: pacman -S geforcenow-electron

Software Components

• Fixed locale / language regression
• Changed ISO compression to ZSTD
• Calamares updated to 3.2.39-3 branch

Configuration

Salient OS KDE Plasma:

• Fixed a keymap/language regression
• Preliminary Root Theme Fixes (once installed! Not in live user session...).

Salient OS XFCE:

• Reconfigured base Terminal colors and overall appearance to be cleaner.
