TL;DR
🩹 Fixed
- Build thumbnails here now pre-builds the right icon size
Read more: everything in 2.1.2
### Fixed - **"Build thumbnails here" only ever pre-built the smallest icon size.** It prepares three sizes, one for each of Explorer's Medium, Large and Extra-large views. It turns out Windows renders only the **first** size it is asked for and fills the other two in from that one, and we asked for the smallest first. So the two larger views were being filled from a 96-pixel picture, which Windows then threw away and rebuilt from scratch the first time you actually opened the folder in one of them. The run reported success, and for those two views it had genuinely done nothing. It now builds the largest size first, so the smaller ones come from it for free. In a 25-file test, opening the folder at Extra-large afterwards dropped from 2.8 seconds to 0.1. Pre-building still renders each file exactly once; it takes a little longer per file now, because that one render is finally happening at the size that was actually needed. **If you reported this as a PDF problem, this is your fix.** The bug was never specific to PDFs; it affected every format equally. PDFs are just the slowest thing to render, so the wasted work was obvious on them and invisible on a photo. Nothing about PDF handling itself needed to change. This also corrects something the 2.1.1 notes said: the sizes were never each re-rendering the file. There was only ever one render per file. It was just happening at the wrong size.Verified installer

Portable (no installer)
Extract and run. Nothing is installed, nothing goes in the registry, no admin needed.
Settings live in SageThumbs2K.ini next to the exe.
You get the app and the command line tool: settings, convert and resize, quick preview, screenshots, OCR, the colour picker and the folder tools.
Explorer thumbnails and the classic right-click menu work too. Turn them on with
st2k register, or the button in Settings under Advanced. That registers the handler
for your user account only: no installer, no administrator rights, nothing written
machine-wide. st2k register --off undoes it, and you should run that before moving
or deleting the folder, otherwise Windows is left pointing at a file that has gone.
Three things still need the installer, because Windows only accepts them registered for the whole machine: the Explorer preview pane, the Details pane columns, and the Windows 11 right-click menu (the compact one).
