What's changed

• Explorer stays responsive when menus and metadata appear. Right-click construction no longer decodes the selected file just to prepare a preview; the image is generated only if the SageThumbs submenu actually opens. Details-pane metadata probes are header-only, capped at 250 ms, and limited to two detached workers so slow files or providers cannot accumulate work in Explorer or SearchIndexer.
• Large camera RAW and OS-codec thumbnails use bounded memory. Shell streams can take an early, structurally validated embedded JPEG without reading the sensor-data tail, while WIC scales HEIC, AVIF, RAW, and JPEG 2000 frames before copying RGBA pixels into SageThumbs. Ordinary TIFF files remain on the normal path, and the configured maximum file size still applies.
• Pathological Windows metafiles fail quickly. WMF and EMF decoding now has a dedicated three-second/96 MiB ImageMagick budget instead of consuming the broader raster allowance.
• The optional uninstall note can include reply details. People who want an answer can leave an email or other contact beside their feedback; skipping the survey still never delays removal.
• Connections sync is safer across devices and accounts. Nested preference changes preserve unrelated remote edits, cache validators cannot cross account boundaries, shutdown flushes pending settings, and retry timing honors server throttling.
• Release packaging is self-contained and icon-verified. Public artifacts contain the installable application without development folders, and release validation checks the visible executable and installer branding before publication.
• Huge archives now return immediately instead of tying up Explorer. The archive limit is enforced before 7z parsing on every shell-stream path—even when Max file size is set to Unlimited or a provider omits the filename or length. The reported 909,208,825-byte project archive was tested directly and rejected before parsing; network-share timing is allowed to vary.
• Conversions are exact, atomic and memory-bounded. EXR, HDR, Farbfeld, PAM and PPM use native streaming writers with high-bit-depth data preserved where the format allows. Every other advertised target uses an explicit bundled writer; unsupported targets fail before reading the source, and a failed conversion cannot replace an existing file or leave PNG data under the wrong extension.
• AVIF and JPEG XL export now include their real writer engines. Earlier Full packages advertised these conversions but removed load-bearing ImageMagick delegates, which could leave PNG bytes under the requested extension on a clean PC. This build retains the required writers, runtimes and legal files, independently verifies all 14 Magick-backed output signatures, and rejects incomplete bundles.
• Screenshot and Quick preview background handling is down to one resident helper. The removed watchdog stays removed, and install/verification restarts the shared daemon directly instead of leaving a second command-shell process behind. Full-screen editor automation now also exercises Shift-snapped line drawing through the real window.
• Release builds now fail closed. Staged contents, exact upgrade-cleanup rules, package signatures, source inputs, version, artifact digest, size budget and reviewed release notes are all verified before a build can be published.
