🧪 Research Wheel v2.0.0: The Research Edition Pivot

This major update transforms QuickWheel into Research Wheel a middle-click radial gesture menu and side panel built specifically for web research, citations, and rapid note-taking.

⚡ What’s New

8-Slice Research Radial Wheel
Replaced generic tab actions with 8 instant research shortcuts:

  • 🎓 Scholar Search: Launches a Google Scholar search using highlighted text (or page title if none).
  • 🧬 PubMed: Launches a PubMed search using highlighted text or title.
  • 📝 Append Note: Clips selected text directly to your Workspace side panel as a note.
  • 📜 Citation: Formats, saves, and copies a citation (APA, MLA, Chicago, or BibTeX) to clipboard.
  • 📂 Workspace: Triggers the background service worker to open the Chrome Side Panel.
  • 🌐 Translate: Translates leading text containers on the page in-place.
  • 🔗 Title + URL: Copies a clean markdown hyperlink [Page Title](URL) to your clipboard.
  • 📋 Quote + Source: Copies and saves selected text as a blockquote with markdown source attribution.

Research Workspace (Side Panel)
Automatically captures your appended quotes, bookmarks, and notes in a persistent sidebar panel.

Markdown Export
Export your collected research notes directly to .md files for Obsidian, Notion, or local storage with a single click.

📦 Installation (Developer / Unpacked Mode)

  1. Download ResearchWheel.zip from the assets below.
  2. Extract the ZIP file to a local folder on your machine.
  3. Open Chrome or Brave and navigate to chrome://extensions/.
  4. Enable Developer mode (toggle switch in the top right).
  5. Click Load unpacked and select your extracted folder.

Research Wheel operates 100% locally on your device. Zero data collection, zero external analytics, and zero tracking.
