QuickHandNote 0.9 ----------------- Jordi Linares (jlinares@dsic.upv.es), 22nd December 2008 Welcome to the first fully-functional beta version of QuickHandNote. QuickHandNote is a project which objective is the creation of a notetaking application especially designed for teaching purposes, thinking overall in electronic whiteboards, digital tablets and tablet pcs. QuickHandNote is also an experiment in a new development framework: processing.org processing.org is a java-based development language and IDE specialized in computer graphics application development. Although thousands of developments have been coded with processing, the general objective of them are traditionally artistic works. With QuickHandNote, we try to prove processing.org has important advantages in the development of more general applications. Although processing.org has its own development environment, QuickHandNote is being developed using Eclipse. Besides processing.org libraries, QuickHandNote uses the excellent Simple XML serialization library (http://simple.sourceforge.net/) About 0.9 version ----------------- 0.9 beta version is fully-functional. Here some of their capabilities: - It allows handwriting with strokes of several sizes and colors. - The 'erase' tool is able to delete any previous stroke. - The strokes are smooth (antialiased). - The note can be saved in an .xml easy to understand format. - The note can be also exported to a .pdf file. - It has been tested on Mac OS Leopard, Windows XP and Linux (Ubuntu 8.10). - The Java VM 1.5 or above required. Future features --------------- - Undo/Redo - Full screen mode support - Selection of one/some strokes and moving/resizing - Multi-note management - Additional 2D figures: circles, rectangles, triangles, straight lines, arrows etc. - much more ... HELP REQUIRED !!!! ------------------ Please, help QuickHandNote project by submiting bugs in its tracker. Additional testing is required to ensure its multiplatform objective (overall in different Linux distros and graphic cards). Developers, please, consider to participate !
