Quest for Power is a project that dates-back to 2006, and is currently in its third incarnation. It has always used the Eclipse MMORPG engine (another piece of open-source software, the one QfP currently uses is "Eclipse Origins Reloaded"), and is the work of a couple hobbyists. It is a 2D MMORPG, so its gameplay is like that of an early Final Fantasy game, and many different people can be in the same world at the same time. Its beautiful, medieval music was provided by a mod for Oblivion, and the copyright for the songs has long since expired.

You will need these Library Files in order to run it: http://www.touchofdeathforums.com/smf/index.php/topic,65854.0.html.

Linux and Mac users will require WINE, as well as the above library-files (unfortunately, VB6 only compiles for Windows).

You will also need an archive-manager compatible with .7z archives.

You will also need to consult http://qfp9.webs.com/servers to get a server's IP address for the time being.

Features

  • Play online with several other people
  • Gain levels as you explore the [eventually] massive world of Nikosida
  • Learn powerful, new magic (planned)
  • Acquire legendary weapons (planned)
  • More to come
