  • I downloaded and installed this for the Mac (MacOS 14.7.1 on a Mac Studio). When I launch it from the Applications folder, the Mac complains that the application was downloaded from the Internet. I confirm that I want to open it. Then I see this message: "Qprompt.app" is damaged and can't be opened. There's a button to ask for help, and it says that the app has been modified and its code does not match the original signed code. It also says: Some apps and tools, such as AppleScript or JavaScript applications and some legacy tools, modify themselves after signing. These types of apps cannot be opened unless you override the security settings on your Mac. Then it gives references to instructions on how to override my security settings, and also how to protect my Mac from malware. I'm not inclined to use self-modifying code if there exist alternatives to it.

Hi Paul. Some versions of QPrompt for MacOS failed to run because some of QPrompt's libraries that ship with the program came pre-signed, but QPrompt itself wasn't, causing modern macOS not to admit it. The issue had nothing to do with self modifying code. There is no self-modifying code in QPrompt. There's never been any. After 3 years I've finished and published QPrompt v2.0, which is properly signed and supports both Intel and Apple Silicon Macs (each a separate download, make sure to choose the correct file). Builds going from 1.1.3 through 1.2.0 are the ones that were affected by the lack of a proper digital signature. To anyone willing to work around this issue in order to run one of those earlier builds, all you need to work around this is run the following command from a terminal after having dropped QPrompt into the Applications folder: sudo xattr -cr /Applications/QPrompt.app I hope this helps some of you. Paul, if this helps you in any way, please consider updating your review. Thanks
  • Hey, Awesome software!!!! I'm a singer in a rock band and I built my own teleprompter using a small windows computer and I have to say your software rocks man. I guess I would love to see just one feature that would be very useful to us singers. The ability to load a bunch of separate files (song lyrics) and have one more shortcut to be able to jump to the next song. If you add that simple feature, this software would be total perfection. Thank you in advance!!
  • Hello. I'm Elimar Beck, I live in Brazil. I've been working with teleprompters since 1992. I work with corporate videos and events, publicity films, video classes and now lives, I don't work much with TV shows. I'm using Qprompt for some jobs and I really like the software, but I still miss some tools and formatting that optimize my work. I make myself available for collaboration, analyzes and suggestions if you are interested. I don't want money, I want a tool that allows me to work with excellence. Thanks.

  • For the developers to make this application free to download and use, is SERIOUSLY appreciated... Autocues are invaluable and while there are a number of low-cost and free alternatives, QPrompt is well worth trying out if not actually using! I do use it. and would make one suggestion... other apps have a tip that is displayed if you hover over an icon.... Perhaps this can be provided. It took me a while to work you how to place markers and then to find out how to jump to them :-)
