ptkdb version 1.232 implements some patches I developped testing perl scripts with ptkdb 1.231 . I) Proximity window - Items displayed on the proximity window are now open at refresh time applying a defineable depth. Default depth is zero, that means are items are closed. They get open only at the time the user double-click them. This prevent the display of large structure, which dramatically slows down the session flow. - The handling of array indices has been upgraded in order to eliminate expression like $array[$i++] which may lead to data corruptions in the debugged process. II) Restart debugging session - Callbacks may be defined on .ptkdbrc to be called just before the session is restarted. This allows to reset the test environment, change the command line options and other useful tasks. - Breakpoint on required scripts do not longer disappear after the restart command. III) Expression balloon - Array items with with auto-incrementing indices are no longer accepted. When you point to an expression $array[$i++] the balloon responds with 'expr!'. In fact, if ptkdb evaluates this expression the value of the variable $i get modified, an action that is strictly denied to the debugger! IV) Minor fixes - force stepin/stepover when breakpoint filter is active. - prevent exception in block DB::END when the debugged script has been started with the -w option. V) Patch for 1.232 The pack-arglist on line 3225 missed a delimiter after -side => 'left' . Thus, the Checkbutton controlling the hex-display on the eval window did not appear. The patch has been implemented on CVS and on the tarbal as well. Last but not least, feel free to send me a brief description at mmarazzi@users.sourceforge.net if you have any question, problem or even an interesting experience about ptkdb. Looking forward to your feedback! 17.04.2012 Marco M., Zurich Switzerland ------------------------------------------------------------------
