povray 3.6.1.1 raytracer download

The Persistence of Vision Raytracer source tarball.

This release of POVRay is intended for building on Linux or Apple Sierra OS. It fixes a couple compile time obstructions. It does not require MacPorts (but Apple X-Code is required of course). On mac it will have image output but no gui pop-up window.

To build do the iconic:

# ./configure
# make
# make install

does not require git or require depends downloads, newer povray does not currently support GNU build only git, it works completely stand-alone on systems mentioned
the linux binary depends only on libc6/stdc++,libz,libm,libgcc_s (typical depends for linux/gcc) (no X/GUI interface or depends, no libpeg libpng depends (are static/build-in))
