xTuple ERP: PostBooks Edition ======================================================== Thank you for your interest in xTuple ERP! ***IMPORTANT LOG-IN INFORMATION*** When you are logging into xTuple ERP, you need to specify whether you are logging into a server you specify or the single user hosted demo. If you want to log into a demo database installed locally (on your computer), you should select the "Log in to a server I specify" option on the log in screen. On the other hand, if you applied for and were *approved* for a hosted demo of the xTuple ERP Enterprise Edition, then you should select the "Log in to single-user demo with my xTuple web user" option on the log in screen. To log into any of the three local databases (demo, quickstart or empty), simply enter the username "admin" and password "admin." To log into the hosted demo, use the same username and password you created when you registered on the www.xtuple.org website. Example: Log in to a server I specify Username: admin Password: admin For more information on logging into Postbooks, please see: http://www.xtuple.com/how-do-I-login-to-xTuple-PostBooks. The PostBooks Edition of xTuple ERP is a free and open source accounting, CRM, and ERP solution. It has the following components: * xTuple ERP * CSVImp * OpenRPT * Updater * PostgreSQL xTuple ERP is the main xTuple application. This must be installed on every desktop or laptop computer that will be used for accounting, CRM, or other ERP processing. It includes built-in versions of CSVImp and OpenRPT. CSVImp is a tool to import data from CSV files into the xTuple database. For stand-alone use, this component should only be installed on the desktop or laptop computers of database administors and power users. OpenRPT is xTuple's report writer. For stand-alone use, this collection of applications should be installed on the desktop or laptop computers of database administrators and power users. The Updater is xTuple's tool for installing database updates and application extensions. It should be installed on the desktop or laptop computers of database administrators only. PostgreSQL is the database server that stores your ERP data and a collection of utility programs to manage the database server. One instance of the database server will be shared by all xTuple ERP users. The PostgreSQL component should only be installed on the database server machine. You may want to install it on the desktop or laptop computers of database administrators, but only for testing new xTuple ERP releases or to install the utilities for connecting to the centralized database server. -------------------------------------------------------- Uninstalling: To uninstall xTuple ERP or individual components, run the accompanying uninstaller. This might start a separate PostgreSQL uninstaller application. The PostgreSQL uninstaller removes only the database server and support files. It does not remove the 'postgres' user and does not remove the files it stores the database tables in. You will have to remove the user and files manually to clean up your system completely. The PostgreSQL uninstaller tells you where these files are when it is done. Note: If the PostgreSQL uninstaller asks if you want to reboot your system, you should answer 'No'. Manually reboot after the xTuple uninstaller completes. -------------------------------------------------------- Please note: PostgreSQL is configured by default for local access only. If you wish to allow other users to connect, you will need to modify certain PostgreSQL configuration files. Please contact xTuple for assistance or consult the xtuple.org community website. You will also want to change the admin user password. You may have also installed the following databases: The Empty database has only the basic data required to bootstrap your xTuple installation. This is recommended for advanced users who have completed xTuple training. The Quickstart database has a basic US Chart of Accounts, and certain other basic configuration settings required to operate - but still no data for Items, Customers, etc. The Demo database has sample information for a fictional company. This is recommended for exploring how the xTuple ERP application works.
