Pika 1.8.0 introduces a new menu bar popover mode, contrast picking with support for both the WCAG and APCA standards at once, and a redesigned Liquid Glass app icon for macOS's latest look — along with a handful of palette and window quality-of-life fixes.

New features

• Menu bar popover mode — A new "Popover" app mode shows the picker UI in a popover from the status bar icon, giving you quick access without a floating window or Dock icon
• Contrast picking — Pick a foreground and background color in one flow. Enable in Preferences or trigger via the pika://pick/contrast URL scheme
• Both contrast standards — View WCAG and APCA contrast ratings side by side in the footer, Touch Bar, and Preferences
• Liquid Glass app icon — A redesigned app icon built with Apple's Icon Composer, with a refined eye symbol and a new dark and mono background pattern. The About window and welcome splash have been refreshed to match. Thanks to Alexander Käßner for the contribution!

Updates and bug fixes

• Scroll the palette bar with any mouse — Vertical scroll wheel input now translates to horizontal scrolling on the palette tab bar and swatch strip, so reaching off-screen palettes no longer requires a Magic Mouse or trackpad swipe (#227)
• Palette tooltips match your color format — Hovering a swatch in the palette bar now shows the foreground and background values in your selected color format and space, instead of raw hex
• Window position — Pika now remembers its position and size when you quit and reopen it
• Localized decimal separators — Contrast ratios now use locale-appropriate decimal separators (e.g. comma for German, French, and Croatian)
