phomemo-p12-cups 0.2

This release completes continuous/custom-media support for the Phomemo P12 and verifies printing from LibreOffice Writer through CUPS, LPrint/PAPPL and the BLE bridge to the printer.

Changes

  • Require PAPPL 1.4.8 or later at configure time for both pappl and pappl2.
  • Advertise a custom continuous-media range of approximately 11.99-12.02 mm wide and 10-1000 mm long.
  • Add a named 120 mm medium and use it as the ready/default medium while retaining arbitrary custom lengths.
  • Preserve the full 96-dot print-head width at 203 dpi by using the existing 12.02 mm internal width convention.
  • Add a NULL check around pwgMediaForPWG() in common LPrint media handling so custom/ranged media can retain dimensions supplied by the driver when there is no fixed PWG media entry.
  • Add the p12_ family to LPrint's central driver dispatch.
  • Remove temporary raster diagnostics used during development.
  • Document successful LibreOffice printing of a 120 mm x 12 mm custom page.

Why common LPrint code changes are needed

The P12 exposes continuous media with an arbitrary printable length. This exercised a common LPrint path that assumed every ready-media name would resolve to a fixed PWG media entry. For custom or ranged media that need not be true.

The common-code change is deliberately conservative: if pwgMediaForPWG() returns a media entry, behaviour is unchanged. If it returns NULL, LPrint now retains the dimensions already supplied by the driver instead of dereferencing the NULL pointer. This is therefore a general robustness improvement for custom media, not a P12-specific workaround.

The p12_ dispatch hook is the normal integration point required for a new LPrint driver family.

Tested path

LibreOffice Writer -> CUPS -> LPrint/PAPPL 1.4.8 -> local TCP/BLE bridge -> Phomemo P12.

A 120 mm x 12 mm Writer document printed correctly end-to-end. PAPPL also validated the CUPS-generated custom media dimensions for the same job.
