DownloadPexpect is a Python module for spawning child applications; controlling them; and responding to expected patterns in their output. Pexpect can be used for automating interactive applications such as ssh, ftp, passwd, telnet, etc. Pexpect is pure Python.

I use it currently to control uboot and ssh from a Windows7 box, trough cygwin over a ttyS3 (usb serial cable), I should have found out about this earlier ... Nice stuff
