  • I used perceptron for a live video performance in a techno party. It performs great on a debian ryzen7 laptop. Thank you so much!

+1; Perceptron started as a project for visuals for parties at Caltech and later to accompany some ambient/electronica shows in Pittsburgh; It's dated, but nice to know it still has some life in it. ( :
  • OK, I'm not a normal user, I suppose. But the program tries to install a bunch of stuff in my Documents directory. Unfortunately it does this as the SYSTEM process. Why matter? Docdir is on home server, so SYSTEM comes across as guest user w/no access anywhere. :-( Tried playing with Samba in several ways to get it to allow the install, but nooooo. I gave low rating solely for the fact that this is one of the first installers for a program that didn't allow me to specify where to install it, or its' user files. If it had gone for my home directory <Users/me>, that would have worked, but I put all my docs on my linux server. No way to install this in another location. It looked like an interesting program. Too bad it's locked itself out of being tried by only installing in a fixed (unavailable for the win installer) directory. :-(

Preferably, the user should install the program to any folder inside the user's home folder where Perceptron has all the read and write permissions. There are two automated installers for Windows and the version for manual extraction available in https://sourceforge.net/projects/perceptron/files/
  • full of possibilities, a very interesting software
