User Reviews

  • Best Blokus game I've played.

  • Pentobi represents a huge breakthrough in Blokus AI. Its level of play runs rings around the computer players on, and far surpasses all the previous attempts at Blokus playing programs (mostly student projects of one sort or another). Even experienced players will find that it gives them a pretty good game, even if it doesn't win. I find it hard to beat even when it is just playing on Level 5 (of 6). (The top level is too slow for my limited patience.) It has excellent graphics, a rich feature set, and a good user interface. You can play against the program, enter moves yourself, record entire games - with variations and commentary, too, among other things. There have been very few, if any, outright bugs; the level of programming skill and polish is evident from the start. In the early pre-releases, the documentation in the Help menus was rather thin, but that has been corrected in the pre-release of Version 1.
