  • Strength: • Libre Source (Open Source). If you are not familiar with "Libre Source", it means this software has both stronger security & stronger privacy. Because its code is publicly available for review and contributions at or sourceforge DOT net or github DOT com. • Attractive GNU General Public License version 2. This means the software code is owned and supported by a friendly not-for-profit community. Instead of a for-profit corporation • Latest Linux version available at flathub DOT org • Able to compress and extract in a massive 200+ archive formats. Such as, but not limited to, Tar, 7-Zip, RAR. And convert between those 200+ formats. • Crossplatorm. BSD, Linux, macOS, Windows • Easy to use interface • Very fast with compressing and extracting larges files • Stronger security on new archives. With optional two-step verification, add password, built-in encrypts password manager, secure file shredder to permanently erase any data that’s no longer needed. • Multilingual • Schedule archives • Create self-extracting archives • Can be used as a portable program without installation • One of my favorite feature is its smart extract. If the archive contains multiple files with the same names, during decompression, optionally, PeaZip will automatically create unique folders. In other words, all files are successfully decompressed. • Plug-ins at peazip.github DOT io • Themes at peazip.github DOT io --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- Challenge: • PeaZip is loaded with advanced features. The downside to this is that some pages are heavily cluttered with advanced options. In turn, people not familiar with technologies might be intimidated and confused. To resolve this challenge, how about adding a toggle button to switch between Easy and Advanced interface? The Easy interface would simply hide the advanced features. But when users need advanced features, they could simply use this toggle button. I create a feature request about this at sourceforge DOT net tickets #780 --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- Review done using: • PeaZip version 9.5
  • Excellent software, a lot of fantastic features, PS where I find dark theme from second picture?
  • That keyfile feature is brilliant! Running on Windows 11. Simple well laid out interface. Install procedure was professional & straight forward. Has become my go-to software for archiving and encrypting local files. Thank you!
  • We have inserted PeaZip on our Ufficio Zero Linux OS repositories. If We could have debs for the 32bit versions We will complete the work on our 32bit releases as well. Ufficio Zero Linux OS

  • I like both 7-zip and PeaZip but the 2FA (Keyfile with password) option in PeaZip is an added advantage.

  • realy great app i will used it everyday now but one feature miss to me it's a dark theme. And realy download that s*** it's good AF.
  • nice user interface. hope you can add dark theme mode.
  • The UI takes some getting used to if you want to configure specific options in supported archive formats, but after that (or if you don't want to configure specifics or tweak options for personal preference), it's easy to use and works well. The feature I use most is conversion from one archive type (usually .zip) to an archive with higher compression (usually .7z, .arc, or a .paq variant from which PeaZip supports decompression with paths/etc.).
  • It is compatible with 7-Zip and adds its own open source encryption. Plus many useful features in GUI. That's because 5 stars.

  • Hallo there Zippers ........ Once day i extract zip files from zip directory. In that directory have a 100++ small size zip files. When i selected all of those files to extract, i just like an idiot watching Peazip windows popping up then closed then popping up again, then closed again, then popping up again, again and again. And wait until it finished. I can not do anything, can not also minimize (peazip) it. Even i open others applications like google chromes or youtube, peazip popping up then closed the extracting windows on the top automaticaly. So i must wait after it finished it all. How to Minimize or Hide PeaZip Popping Up Windows While Extracting ? Please help me to solved this problem. Because i still have a tons of zip files to be extract. Anybodies have the same problem ?

Hello, thank you for reporting this issue. It was a quite common complaint from users due the architecture of PeaZip, and it was fixed in 6.7.x line. Now the compression / extraction launcher window does not pop up when processing each new file in the sequence, so it can be moved or hidden at will. I hope this will improve the experience of use of the application.
  • I love PeaZip and have it on my computer next to another compression software for those times I need to uncompress something my main compress doesn't handle well.

  • I just might choose this over 7-Zip. Not because I dislike 7-Zip, mind you. But because this software has many many more features than 7-Zip does. I love it. Absolutely love it. Also the additional encryption algorithms supported by PeaZip make it a definite winner for someone who needs to encrypt sensitive data, like myself.

  • I would rate it 5 stars, however the GUI is really poorly designed. If it was more straight-forward like 7zip's GUI, I personally think that is would be a great program.
  • This is one of the many great programs I got familiar since I started using PortableAoos.com back in 2008. One of the main features I've always praised of PeaZip above other great compression software like 7-zip or FreeArc it's the overall design; from the installation (how all association and shell options are given). the UI (all the info presented about the files, the browser, the theme customization, the menus) to it's core own compression file, PEA. It's able to create backups, scripts, manage passwords,it's got a very flexible compression dialog, full of options to customize the result file, it makes the use of the console really easy and familiar (since I'm not used to do it, I feel like I can use it without being alienated). Even the icons for the file associations are cool. In general, PeaZip has the same great features of other open source compression tools, but the design it's the best overall, I personally prefer using PeaZip in Windows, everything adapts to me ( and not the other way around), and the dev. it's quick to take note of bugs and problems with the app. I hope to see a better implementation of the PEA file in the future (in other software), I feel the full potential hasn't been unleashed yet.

  • Nice program with great features - but alas - completely unoperable on hi resolution screens. The fonts are so tiny, it really lives up to its name

  • Could you please let me know the ECCN for this software?
