------------------------------------------------------------------------ *GETTING STARTED WITH* *Pearl Linux Mate Raspberry Pi2* ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ************* Installing Image to your Raspberry Pi2 **************** YOU WILL NEED AN 8 GIG microSD or larger to install Pearl MATE for Raspberry Pi 2 First unzip the file you downloaded Pearl-MATE-Kodi-RPi2-291015.img.zip then To burn image to microSD card run this command from your terminal window sudo dd if=Pearl-MATE-Kodi-RPi2-291015.img of=/dev/mmcblk0 Please take note that you must use full system path after if= ...above example I, scott downloaded file to my Downloads directory. NOW .. Very Important Here.... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- To find out the location of your microSD card on Linux simply mount image and type fdisk -l -> this command will show you your /dev/? location. Mine was /dev/mmcblk0 as I burned it from a netbook with builtin sdcard slot however if I put my microSD card in for instance a USB microSD card READER your /dev location would probably be something like /dev/sda. YOU TYPE IT WRONG YOU COULD LOOSE DATA on a HD on your system. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------ root password = letmein default (auto login) username = pi default pi password = letmein The very first thing to do as soon as you boot up is run "* raspi-config "*. [the raspberrypi icon on bottom dock) Choose the very first option which is expand .. This will expand your main root directory to fill your microSD card. after rebooting open a terminal and type: "sudo apt-get install dphys-swapfile" This will install a swap file for a much quicker system. Please note after typing command above and it states it is finished it isn't. You can wait 5 min. or reboot your raspberry pi but you will notice your activity light (green light on pi) will be solid... meaning its still building the swap file... this is normal. It may take up to even 5 minutes to reach the desktop after installing dphys-swapfile but it will get there lol... ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *KODI INFO* ------------------------------------------------------------------------ To launch the Kodi Media Center on PearlPi simply start it from your main menu.
