I have been using this program for years. Only recently discovered someone had done a port to Android so I can use it on my Nexus 10 tablet too. For the iPhone, pwSafe is fully compatible, so I now have my 350 passwords on all three of my devices all synchronized using DropBox. Simples!

Sorry to say, but Keepass Password Safe is still my favorite.
See:
- sourceforge.net/projects/keepass
- keepass.info
There's a port on many platforms (Windows /Linux/iOS/Android/Javabased/BlackBerry/MacOS/Palm) - Use v1.1 database for full multi platform experience.
- KeepassDroid is best port for Android
- MiniKeepass is the best port for iOS
It does not have full sync features (using plugins there are), but I use SugarSync to sync the DB-files between platforms (only iOS does not work like expected, because of the iOS platform setup)

I've been using Password Safe almost since it's inception of 2002. I'm an EE, so back then passwords had already become a part of my professional life. The day of slips of paper for passwords had to go. What I especially liked was that Bruce Schneier (read his entry on WiKipedia) had done the original coding. That was a major consideration during my initial evaluation, so Password Safe won the day. Over the past 30 years, I have consistently upgraded and added to Password Safe. I use it not only for passwords, but for other critical items that need safe storage. Using the generation rule set, it is possible to create essentially unbreakable passwords. I also use Password Safe to store software keys for downloaded software. I now have 588 entries and still adding, so Password Safe's capability to organize a directory hierarchy is critical to maintaining this many entries. Also important is being able to add notes to each entry as each gets upgraded/modified over time. These entries were accrued over multiple generations of computer upgrades, so it's fair to say that Password Safe has become central to my digital life. I expect Password Safe to continue to do so for the foreseeable future. There are plenty of "Password Safes" on the Internet. This is only the real one. -WTM- PS: No stars since I never asked.

I've been using PWSafe for at least 10 years, and I've never thought of leaving a review! I use it every day on both Windows and Android. I use PassWDSafe Sync to sync the devices. It's a great package that works extremely well, and has saved me (thanks for Notes!) a few times. One of my favourite apps!

Cannot believe I never posted a rating here. Been using for over 15 years. Wow! Been a constant in my tech life. Use Jeff Harris Android port as well. Both of the programs are fantastic! Thank you for this great program!!!

I have been using the software for years and apart from minor, but not security-related errors, this password manager has always been reliable, secure and stable. Many thanks for your work and for this wonderful piece of open source software

Having utilized Password Safe for the past several months, I must say it is an indispensable tool in my daily digital life. In an era where cybersecurity has taken a front seat, managing an increasing array of online accounts securely can be daunting. Password Safe has come to my rescue, offering a user-friendly and secure solution for managing all my passwords. One of the highlights of this password manager is its simplicity. The user interface is straightforward and clean, making it easy for beginners and tech-savvy users alike. Navigating the software is a breeze, and creating, retrieving, and managing passwords is quite intuitive. In terms of design, I would rate it 5/5 for maintaining an excellent balance between simplicity and functionality.

Very good tool in the tool box

I am a 15+ year user and use it practically every day. The best such app I have seen. I recommend it regularly to all my employees. For the people who have expressed concern about losing their computer with the password database on it, the answer is simple. Use an extra long password. There are easy ways to create passwords that are just as easy to remember, but hard to crack because of a long password. Just look them up.

Excellent app, great support, and recommended highly/frequently to others who choose not to store passwords via an online service. I've been using Password Safe just over five years and have zero issues or complaints. I use on both desktop and laptop, accessing the encrypted db on firewalled intranet NAS. I'll occasionally copy the most recent db to my iPhone for use with the pwSafe app, keeping my info secure and encrypted local on my mobile device.

I learned about Password Safe about 1999 from a security engineer I worked with then and have been using it since at work and at home. I love that fact it doesn't know about the cloud (I use a USB drive to copy the file among my computers). Also that it is on SourceForge and peer reviewed. Better than paid programs any day. One feature I use a lot is the -e & -d flags to keep my check book safe - great feature! I absolutely love being able to set the notes field to a non-proportional/non-kerned font so you can easily see the password length. I use "Lucinda Console".

Easy to use, effective and completely free of advertising. I like the way it runs equally well on Android and Windows, and I like the simple user interface. I've been using it for years without any hint of a problem. Many thanks to all involved.

Been using for ages (>10 years). Works great.
-
I use and love the Windows and Android versions.
-
Perfect for what I want a Password tool to be.

Linux app is still in beta and there are still many improvements to do. It uses a lot of CPU when it starts up. In any case it is a great tool and should be more advertised.

I have been using Password Safe on my Windows Laptops since around 2005. It was one of the softwares recommended by a large multinational oil company that I was working for at the time. I have used it under WindowsXP, Vista, and Windows 7 (both 32 bit and 64 bit). I find it excellent and easy to use. It makes it straightforward to use complex and unique usernames and/or passwords for each website entry. I know that there is a potential risk should I lose my laptop or should I get hacked somehow, but I have quite strong anti-malware measures in place. I feel that overall I am safer using password Safe and complex passwords than using the same simpler password for numerous sites. I use the "notes" section for each entry to add any... Read More »

search function is useless. can't use commas in search. searching for gmail doesn't bring up the passwords for my gmail accounts, it brings up every record that has the word gmail in it. search is integral when managing 850 records, and this 'search' is as sophisticated as Find function in notepad. windows 3.1 interface also detracts

I've been using Password Safe for over 15 years. Mostly with the Windows platform, then with my Android and lately with Linux. My previous employer stopped just short of endorsing this product, mentioning it as an approved password manager over many other popular cloud-based products. It's easy to use, the configuration is minimal. Simple, yet effective design. I can't imagine using anything other than this product.

very important utility with no/little known vulnerabilities

I've been using this product for years and it only gets better with every iteration. If you need to manage a horde of passwords, like me, then this is one of the best options out there. The fact that I can use it on my smartphone and use two factor authentication is paramount to me and this does both of those and more very well. If you're just coming into password safes, get cozy with this one since it's definitely top notch.
-
Better than many other passwordtresors because of the features and the engaged development.
-
Great project, and a great password manager, really all you need. Set it up with a sync and you can use it on multiple devices. Carry on the good work!
