Shared print folder:
- one implementation in the root helper (passermark-admin shared-folder): creates the group and the folder, sets root:passermark 2775 with the default ACL, adds the users to the group; symbolic links are rejected for security reasons
- three ways in: install.sh (adds the acl package, the installing user and the service user passermark), the administration button (password prompt with status display, works in the AppImage) and passermark-cli shared-folder [--user NAME] [--status]
- without acl a file another program creates with a strict umask gets the group but is not writable for it - acl is now in install.sh
- Windows setup: the three subfolders (hotfolder, ausgabe, archiv) get Modify for users; the rest of ProgramData stays with the administrators (admin presets, colour profiles, workflows)
- watcher service with UMask=0007; serve --init --system creates the example folder under /srv/passermark/hotfolder/beispiel
- serve --check and the output folders in plan printing report folders under /home; the folder picker starts in the shared hotfolder
- docs/cli-api.md has its own section
Deliberately not included: asking for the folder on first AppImage start - set-up goes through the button in the administration.
1.18.3: print log now records out_pages (pages sent per copy - sheets with duplex and copies, with every page handling)
Print log:
- Passermark now records out_pages in the print log: the pages sent per copy. With duplex and copies this yields the sheets, with every page handling
- older log entries do not have the value
- printjob.py, printlog.py, a test and the manual updated
1.18.2: extended document check – page boxes (UserUnit, crop/trim/bleed), bleed at the content, protection, PDF/X output intent, form fields, empty pages; plan --roll/--align/--no-split
Document check:
- page boxes: UserUnit != 1 is an error; CropBox smaller than the MediaBox or outside it (the ColorWave case); TrimBox outside the visible area or larger than the BleedBox; rotated pages and mixed formats as a hint (normal for plan sets)
- bleed: finding only when the content reaches the trim edge and the page has less than 2 mm of bleed (checked on a rough preview, so plans without bleed stay clean)
- protection: "printing not allowed" is an error, low resolution only a warning
- PDF/X: file claims PDF/X without a matching output intent; output intent without embedded profile; pages without TrimBox
- form fields: count of fields not printed (Passermark prints form values itself; NeedAppearances hint for handover and hotfolders)
- empty pages; check report now lists page boxes and bleed of the first page; new workflow check values blank_pages and print_allowed
Command line: plan takes --roll (supply, device name or width, e.g. --roll 914), --align center|left|right and --no-split
Manual (docs/cli-api.md) extended in DE and EN: plan/poster printing, new check section, two examples
Not built yet (proposed for 1.18.3): VDP check and format vs. device – both need the mail merge or the chosen printer, not the plain document.
1.18.1: roll-read message in its own line with scrollable height, responsive Plan & Poster window (truncated lists, draggable splitter, min. 640x420)
Roll-read message:
- now on its own line under the printer bar, no longer between the printer selection and the buttons; at most 3 lines, scrollable, text selectable and copyable with Ctrl+C
- same for the message in the "Rolls …" window (up to 5 lines, including the "check device" result) and the warnings under "running metres per roll" (up to 4 lines)
Responsive:
- long roll, material and printer names no longer widen the selection lists (shortened, full text when opened up)
- fields slip under their label in tight spaces instead of overlapping; right column scrolls; splitter between plan list and settings is draggable, neither side collapses; window shrinks to 640 x 420
1.18.0: new Plan & Poster workspace – plan and poster printing on rolls, rolls read from the device (IPP/SNMP), running metres, CLI plan/poster
New Plan & Poster workspace, also as a workflow step and via passermark-cli plan / poster (--dry-run calculates running metres only):
- rolls read from the device via IPP, otherwise SNMP (v2c with fallback to v1); "other" supplies with a width count as rolls, community per device; Roland queried separately, otherwise rolls entered by hand; on Windows the device address comes from the port (IP, TCP/IP or WSD)
- "check device" (probe) queries ports, IPP and SNMP into a JSON report – read-only, nothing printed
- print area: trimmed to the outer of two outer lines, otherwise a 5 mm margin, per-plan override
- roll choice automatic (narrowest fitting roll by grammage/material, materials now also matched by name) or fixed; media type passed to the driver; position centred or at the edge, page as wide as the roll (plans default to the edge, posters to centred)
- copies sorted/unsorted by list or roll width, "cut individually" makes each copy its own job (1/3, 2/3 …); running metres live per roll with low-length warning, written to the print log
- plan tools: scaling, rotation, overspill strips (mirrored, blank or single colour), cut marks, hairline lifting, fold marks to DIN 824
- poster tools: side-by-side optional (now off by default); wider than the roll is cut or split into panels with overlap; hem, eyelet marks, CutContour and registration marks for print & cut with the Roland
- materials for plan/quality printing (grammage, media type, quality, ink amount, profile) stored per user with admin defaults
- hotfolder output (e.g. VersaWorks); clearer error messages when the device is not found
