PakOS 13 (Baseline Version) is made possible with support from Gelecek IT Solutions and AXI Technologies (Pakistan), two humble startups, of which i am proud to be part of. PakOS 13 (Baseline Version) edition is not focused on defensive cyber security entirely but does provide some security enhancements. At its core it provides a standard base on top of which the fully hardened version will be built in near future. Current version is based on Debain 13, and provides all the minimal basics. Additional tools include:

• PakOS Deb Get Store is based on the Deb Get tool to install commercial software spread throughout internet with a single click instead of dealing with separate deb files and repositories. Software like chrome can now be installed with a single click.
• PakOS GPU installer is a GUI based experimemtal GPU driver installer, which can auto detect GPU type and install drivers automatically. For now only NVidia GPUs drivers have been tested. At times the installer gets stuck, and may need restart or even reboot to get out of the loop, Feed back requested for other GPU types.
• PakOS USB Gaurd provides a USB white listing solution based on the excellent USBGuard software. It installs USB gaurd on 1st launch from internet, and then allows all the currently plugged USBs, only after providing Admin password, new plugged USB devices will be whitelisted. By Quitting PakOS USB Guard, the feature still works, so in order to fully disable USB white listing, the Uninstall USB Guard option has to be used.
• Calm AV scanning is now easily accessible through desktop right mouse click sub menu, providing an easy to use GUI for scanning the infected folder.
• Firefox is installed through their official repository, hence latest version is always available, and its updates can be continuously installed using the update manager.
• Firefox default profile has 2 x Security add-on installed by default, i.e Disconnect and UBlock Origin. You can easily uninstall them using add on manager.
• GUI update manager is now installed out of the box, and notifies the user with each new update. Updates can be installed using the same as well.
• OnlyOffice 9.3 is back with the latest release, and now supports Urdu text input out of the box.
• AI Assistant now gives choice of all modern AI Agents including either Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, Grok, Gemini, Poe or Black Box AI agents. You will need Microsoft or Google Account to use them fully.
• AI Assistant is now very lightweight, no heavy deb file is being used to launch it.
• PakOS News aggregator has been replaced with Liferea, after user input for a better RSS feed reader experience, can show latest news from RSS feeds emulating Windows 11 Widget Box.
• Rofi Launcher , mimicking Windows 11 Start Menu has now additional option to browse files in home folder as well as a 3rd option, along with Apps and Open Windows selection and launching, along with Windows 11 theme blur effects
• You can change desktop wallpaper by right clicking anywhere and selecting Set Random Wallpaper. Wallpaper rotation can be disabled by un-selecting Enable Slide show in Desktop preferences.
• Similarly any image can be selected as wallpaper, once you right click on it, then a Set as Wallpaper Option appears in right click menu.
