OSCAR 19 End-of-Life Announcement

Ongoing maintenance and support for OSCAR 19 has been suspended. Organizations currently operating OSCAR 19 should begin planning for migration of their EMR to the nominated replacement, CARLOS EMR, or another suitable offering.

The underlying infrastructure required to operate OSCAR 19, including Ubuntu 22.04 or similar platforms, will no longer be supported through regular channels by Canonical as of April 2027. As this infrastructure reaches end of support, existing OSCAR 19 systems will become increasingly difficult to maintain and progressively more vulnerable to security threats.

Security Vulnerabilities

There are numerous published CVEs affecting dependencies used by OSCAR 19 that have been addressed in CARLOS. Several of these are new CVEs discovered and published in 2026, including:

In addition to these published vulnerabilities, OSCAR 19 has specific security vulnerabilities that have been identified but are not being publicly disclosed. The combination of known published vulnerabilities, additional undisclosed vulnerabilities, and the approaching end of regular infrastructure support presents an increasing security risk for organizations continuing to operate OSCAR 19.

Recommended Action

Organizations are strongly encouraged to begin planning migration to a secure-by-design EMR, such as CARLOS, or to another actively supported EMR platform.

If migration is not currently viable, organizations should consult qualified cybersecurity and EMR security experts to assess their environment and implement appropriate measures to mitigate the risks associated with continued operation of OSCAR 19.

Oscar Windows Installers provide standardized tested installs for Windows based systems. Note that we provide the installers as a demonstration of Oscar features but consider Windows a poor choice for server

Oscar McMaster Manual Installs provide the greatest number of Versions, and can be installed on the greatest numbers of platforms eg: all Linux, all BSD, Mac OS X, Solaris etc

Binaries are released here from time to time as a simple oscar_source_<version>-<revision>.<build no>.tar.gz archive.
