This project was started as a fork of the LibreGreek GIT project.

The changes recorded below are changes on the project above as a base.

Version 0.5.0 - 01/10/2025

- a new capitals only lexicon (dictionary) has been added. This lexicon called 
  en_GR-caps can be used by those that type words in all capital letters. Every 
  word contained in the normal lexicon is converted into its capitals only 
  equivalent. As is dictated by Greek grammar, no accents are used on capitalized
  words (https://users.sch.gr/ipap/NEGlossa/NE_tonismos.htm).
  This dictionary can be loaded and used simultaneously with the normal Greek or 
  Greek/English lexicon. 
  Note that capitalizing the first letter of a word (ex. after a full stop) does 
  not need this lexicon. This behaviour is part of the basic (hunspell) algorithm
  that controls the capitalization rules.
- compatibility with LibreOffice 25.x, 24.x, 7 and 6 verified.
- upgrade to SCOWL-2019.10.06
- added several new Greek words (see the dictionaries/el_GR/el-GR-<version>.wl 
  word list file)
- several changes in the aff file (prefix ανα, τηλε)
- added directory docs
- renamed directorty dicts/ to dictionaries/
- Creation of Mozilla extension removed due to incompatibilities with newer 
  versions. See https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/search/?q=greek%20speller
  for alternatives.

Version 0.4.0 - 17/05/2018

- clean up of thesaurus and corrections of misconfigurations in Dictionaries.xcu,
  Paths.xcu. description.xml
- added Hunspell/MyThes in the tools to better control/test development of the 
  thesaurus.
- ISSUE: thesaurus and en_US dictionary conflict fixed by correct configurations 
  above
- added creation of Mozilla add-on extension (.xpi) for Firefox/Thunderbird/SeaMonkey 
  for Greek only and Greek/English 
- increased Thunderbird valid version to 60
- numerous additions in the el_GR.aff file for better word discovery and suggestions 
- Greek word list has been transferred to DB on Sourceforge. Web site for checking 
  the word list created and ability to request additions created. This gives the 
  ability to create a better Greek dictionary.
- upgraded to scowl-2017.08.24
- added --accents=strip on mk-list to strip accents from English words which caused 
  problems with Hunspell Greek word suggestions in the combined dictionary el_GR-en_US
- started using the <version>.<release>.<maintenance> for version names as recommended 
  by Openoffice (x.y.z version scheme x=major, y=minor, z=bug release)
- renamed orthos/orthosgreek directory to orthos-stage to better reflect its purpose 
  as a staging area
- added the prefix ενδο- to el_GR.aff (π.χ. ενδοκυβερνητικός)
- combined the el_GR and en_US aff's to create the el_GR-en_US aff for the dual 
  language dictionary
- numerous changes in the project buidling procedures
- Words added: προφασιζόμενη

- added the dict/el_GR-el_CY directory for an experimental Greek/Cypriot dictionary
- started https://github.com/ank99/Orthos/wiki to put related info about the project
- several changes to the Greek aff file to better respond with correct options
- first tested release of the thesaurus with small changes from the original project
- clean up/relocation of files, mostly thesaurus files

Version 0.2.α - 30/06/2016

- changes in README files for better reading
- changes in the el_GR.aff for better suggestions (KEY and REP entries)
- added a Greek thesaurus from openthesaurus.gr under directory thesaurus/. 
  This still in alpha. 
- added REP's for άι αί, έι εί, όι οί in aff to correct for ex. τελευτάιος
- ISSUE: Noticed that the combined dictionary (el_GR-en_US) does not install 
  properly - Fixed by redoing the whole process that created dictionary. See next
  issue also.
- ISSUE: Combining el_GR and en_US without adjusting aff will not work since there
  are overlaps of rules in the aff's. For now only the English aff is used in 
  the combined dictionary.

Version 0.1.α - 19/05/2015 - Initial try - note this is an alpha version

- dicts/ 
	- created separate areas for el_GR en_US dictionaries. Moved all relevant 
	  files to it (greek.wl, el_GR.aff etc)
	- renamed some files to better reflect their purpose (ex. greek.wl -> el_GR.wl)
	- el_GR dictionary is created by hunspell/munch
	- en_US dictionaries are obtained from the official source of the Hunspell 
	  dictionaries: http://sourceforge.net
	- started an entirely new el_GR.aff file
	- entirely removed the capitalization of all words from the el_GR.dic. No idea 
	  why they had to do that. Probably with older software it was necessary.
	- moved older and not used any more files to dicts/old. Just in case we need 
	  them later
	
- tools/
	- new directory for installing tools needed for the project
	- installed hunspell-merge from https://github.com/arty-name/hunspell-merge for merging to produce
  	  multilingual dictionaries. This is entirely manual for now and we produce the el_GR-en_US.dic and 
	  el_GR-en_US.aff.

- orthosgreek/
	- new directory (replaced libregreek) that is the staging area for creating the LibreOffice extensions (*.oxt)
	- el_GR/ for the purely Greek dictionary
	- el_GR-en_US/ for the merged el_GR and en_US dictionaries to produce a Greek/English dictionary
	- old/ some initial files placed here - just in case
