What’s Changed
This update brings a visual overhaul, a quick tour for new users and an improved Help section. It adds anti-cheat warnings before installing, a post-install settings check and shows the FSR version actually in use. Auto Frame Generation now goes up to x6, AMD DLSS Neural Rendering is simpler to set up, and cover art fetching finds far more covers without a SteamGridDB key. It also fixes a bug that deleted game FidelityFX DLLs, GPU detection on the Steam Deck and Radeon AI PRO R9700, and several Bulk Install, gamepad and Linux window issues.
If you enjoy using OptiScaler Client and it makes things easier for you, you can now support its development! It is completely optional, but any support is deeply appreciated and helps maintain and improve the project.
Changelog
Fixes
- Fixed a bug where reinstalling OptiScaler deleted a game's own FidelityFX DLLs, preventing the game from launching.
- Fixed a bug where the FSR badge showed the game's native version instead of the FSR 4 DLL installed by OptiScaler.
- Fixed a bug where the FSR 4 Swap DLL installed alongside OptiScaler was detected as a game-native file.
- Fixed a bug where swapping the FSR 4 DLL in games using
amd_fidelityfx_dx12.dllleft the old file in place and added a differently named one the game ignored. - Fixed the anti-cheat detection missing EasyAntiCheat EOS and BattlEye, and files outside the game's root folder.
- Fixed GPU detection for the Steam Deck (RDNA 2) and Radeon AI PRO R9700 (RDNA 4), which received the wrong FSR 4 version.
- Fixed a bug where
PathRegexscan exclusions inconfig.jsonwere ignored. Invalid rules are now skipped instead of breaking the scan. - Fixed a bug in Bulk Install where version changes made while versions were still loading were reset.
- Fixed a bug where the Bulk Install summary counted failed installations as successful. Failed games are now listed with their error.
- Fixed gamepad focus issues in the game list and the Manage window.
- Fixed dialogs on Linux opening on another screen or off-center.
- Fixed "Delete cover" showing the generic placeholder instead of the executable's icon.
New
- Quick tour: a short guide for new users, shown on first launch and available from Help.
- Empty library notice: prompts you to scan your games when none have been added yet.
- Anti-cheat warnings: Manage and Quick Install ask for confirmation before installing on games with anti-cheat; Bulk Install lists them and skips them by default.
- FSR version in use: the Manage window shows the FSR version OptiScaler loaded the last time the game ran, flagged with ⚠ when it differs from the DLL on disk (DX12 games using the FidelityFX API).
- Post-install settings check: verifies that
OptiScaler.inicontains every applied setting, with a one-click fix. Bulk Install reapplies automatically. - Added gamepad navigation to the Frame Generation window and the game filters.
Improvements
- Visual overhaul of the whole app: refreshed colors, icons, badges and animations.
- Improved the Help section, with a help button in each section and clearer tooltips.
- Frame Generation Auto now allows multipliers up to x6 in supported games.
- AMD DLSS Neural Rendering (experimental):
- On Windows, the mode selector was replaced by the mod's version list, as on Linux. "Mod + OptiScaler" is no longer offered there; a link to a third-party project that combines both is shown instead.
- Supports the graphical installer included since danielblnc's mod v0.3.3, which now opens when installing.
- On Linux, it now uses bulacha3's fork, which tracks the current mod version and can be installed together with OptiScaler.
- The FSR entry in the Manage window now explains that the version shown is read from the DLL on disk.
- OptiScaler's log is now written at Info level by default, unless the profile sets its own
LogToFileorLogLevel. - The anti-cheat warning is now translated into all supported languages.
- Improved cover art fetching: more covers are found without a SteamGridDB API key, using launcher caches, store IDs and additional sources. Games without a cover are retried once.
