openLCA beta 1.1.1 Copyright GreenDeltaTC Berlin, 2009 Open Source Software for sustainability assessment Released under Mozilla Public Licence MPL 1.1 Contact: gdtc@greendeltatc.com ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ A Installation B Software and hardware requirements C Remark for MySQL under Linux ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ A) INSTALLATION Unzip the archive, preserving the directory structure. Then start openLCA. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ B) SOFT- AND HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS B1) Software 1: MySQL not blocked by firewall. openLCA uses MySQL as an embedded server. No additional MySQL installation is needed, but start of MySQL (by openLCA) needs to be permitted by the firewall. MySQL does not connect to another computer or the internet, but is only accessed locally be openLCA. This needs to be permitted by the firewall. 2: openLCA needs a Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 1.6 or higher. B2) Hardware 2 GB of RAM is recommended. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- C Remark for MySQL under Linux Under Linux, the MySQL Server needs to be started by openLCA to run properly since a special startup parameter is used. Therefore always the embedded MySQL Server needs to be used in openLCA, in Linux. If you run a separate MySQL Server on the same port as the embedded server, then you need to change the port of the embedded MySQL in the startup form because it cannot start otherwise. We apologise for this inconvenience and will change this in the next release.
