NuTyX is a very flexible, complete GNU / Linux distribution for advanced or motivated users.

Numerous concepts of the distribution are original and therefore exist only on NuTyX.

For example, it has its own CARDS package manager.

You can choose to use the ports system, compile and install your packages from their sources, they will be integrated natively in the system, their management will be transparent.

In addition to the traditional ISOs available, an installation script can install NuTyX from another distribution.

User Reviews

  • Well, The only weak point of this distro is lack of packages. Else all are perfect. CARDS is fast and efficient. it's rolling. Recommended for semi-advenced and pure advenced users. Multiple init is also good.
  • Top distro this. Dan [MiyoLinux] is one of the esteemed team! Me - just a VERY happy user!! Thanks the team for their choice of my channel review in the overview on this project page; best wishes to all, stay safe... [Metafile, aka Jim Acklaw]
  • This is one of the best distros I have ever used. And I discovered it quite by chance. I expected it to be a somewhat difficult distro to use, knowing that it was slightly different to the Linux distros I was used to. However, it runs as smoothly as a well-oiled-machine. It is a fast operating system, there is plenty of software available in the Cards store, and I haven't as of yet needed to compile anything myself. I've heard a lot of good reviews from people who I know are using this distro also. I am using the JWM version, because this is my favorite window manager, and It runs very quickly and takes up hardly no space on my old laptop. The quality of the theming and what with the added editions of the Dmenu, a beautiful Icon set, dynamic menu, conky and lovely light and dark theming. What more could one want? it is also fully customizable, if you are into ricing your desktop, then again, it is a full featured, beautifully designed and ready to use operating system, I cannot recommend Nutyx -Gnu/Linux (pronounced 'NEWTIX' ) enough. It's a great operating system and I know you will never wipe it off your drive! Oh, and it is a rolling release, you can update it for the life of your machine.
  • After a few years of being interested in trying NuTyX, I finally gave it a try. I had been hesitant due to it being based on LFS/BLFS...I assumed it would be time-intensive to maintain the system...was I ever wrong! NuTyX GNU/Linux is one of the easiest-to-use systems that I have ever tried. It's also the fastest system that I've ever used! It really does follow the KISS principle. While it may not be intended for users who are new to Linux, it's definitely a joy to use for anyone with some experience in Linux. There are enough binary packages to give the user a complete desktop, and the documentation shows how to build your own packages if needed. Many thanks to the developer for making NuTyX available. It quickly became my favorite distro after installing it, and it still remains my #1 distro of choice!
  • Is it a true rolling release like arch linux ?
