Wonderfull SourceForge makes a BIG service to the very idea of FOSS with a bug reporting engine that relies on Open ID registration that does not work in Opera (what kindergarden approach to Java script is it using?) and does not allow to ATTACH A FILE!!!!!!

This said, Notepad++ 6.1 and 6.11 crashes when opening some files from command line. This is annoying if it is used as an editor in some other app like Total Commander.

First, set your open format to UTF-8
then open this file with npp, result in crash.

Regression: When folding all from a level with many folds, large files (3000+ lines) can take over 5 minutes with 100% cpu usage. I tried with and without the new document map with the same results. In 5.* this took a fraction of a second.

The stylers allow for setting the colors on tabs, specifically the "Inactive tabs" WidgetStyle alows both fgcolor and bgcolor settings. Up to now, all the inactive tab settings for the included themes (with the exception of "vim Dark Blue", which is only slightly  different) had fgColor="808080" bgColor="C0C0C0". However, in the themes that I have recently created, I attempted to actually theme the inactive tabs, so they all have colors related to the rest of the theme, typically, a darkish background with light text.

I had failed to test the themes with Settings > Preferences > General > Darken Inactive Tabs unchecked, but it turns out that with that setting, the bgcolor is ignored, but the fgcolor is honored, resulting in a virtually unreadable light caption on a light background.

Should this be fixed and if so, how? The obvious possibilities are to either change the tab coding to ignore both the bgcolor and fgcolor when "Darken Inactive Tabs" is not checked or to require all themes to use darker foregrounds than backgrounds on the inactive tabs.

I can reproduce the infinite loop instead of crash with the file you provided - this regression is due to new PCRE support of Scintilla in 6.X version.
I checked in Notepad++ binary but find no issue for it.

Dave, could you try your compiled SciLex.dll (with PCRE support of course) to reproduce this problem?
if not, then maybe I should change the runtime libaray for Scintilla component.

I can't reproduce this on either a standard 6.1.1 or my version.

Why could this be to do with the regex engine - does N++ use the regex when opening a file?

Here's a screenshot of the file opened.

I've tried doing a search for "bin" (regex mode), and did a count, and it found 275 matches.

Am I missing something?

Have you changed the new document format to UTF-8?

This is my reproduce steps:
0. Download a 7z npp package  form official site

1. Extract it to somewhere

2. Settings > Preferences > New Document/Default Directory > Encoding, change it to UTF-8

3. Open the unins000.dat (http://minus.com/mHmFRIk4s/1f)

Result: npp hangs (sorry for my incorrect description above, it's not actually crash, just hangs)

*In fact, choosing any encoding except ANSI results in hanging, on my machine

I can reproduce it now - I was selecting UTF-8 last night, not sure why it wasn't reproducable.

I've found the issue - it's half a UTF-8 double byte sequence at the end of the file, which means when the regex skips over it, it goes past the end, and then never detects the end (this isn't a simple >= instead of a == fix, btw, this is a C++ iterator, so only == is valid).

I'm just testing the fix, then I'll send the patch to Don.
