MultiCastor allows to simultaneously send and receive multiple Ethernet, IPv4 or IPv6 multicast data streams. The purpose of MultiCastor is the simulation of endevices in a network and supports the following multicast registration protocols:
MultiCastor is worldwide the first available testtool supporting MMRP according to IEEE 802.1ak and GMRP according to IEEE 802.1p.
The MultiCastor GUI is based on JAVA-Swing, supporting multiple languages and XML-based configuration storage.
Development of MultiCastor is performed as an ongoing student project at the Cooperative State University Stuttgart (DHBW) in Germany.

This is a great tool to test multicasting in a network by simulating end-devices. However it would be great to implement a function to use senders and receivers in different VLANs (by just adding VLAN tags). This would enable users to simulate end-devices in different VLANs by using a trunk port of a switch and connecting a PC running this tool. I tried to suggest this improvement in a dedicated improvement field but was only able to create it as a review.
MultiCastor is a nice GUI-based tool to send and receive Multicast data streams. It works both for IPv4 and IPv6 and and has a very user-friendly GUI, including configuration settings storage in an XML file.
