MinsOS — Galaxy Tab S7+ 5G (SM-T976B / gts7xl)

One UI 8.0 (Android 16) for a tablet Samsung stopped at Android 13.

SM-T976B only. Not T976N, not T978U, not T975, not the Wi-Fi T970. Check Settings → About tablet → Model number first: the kernel here carries only the European T976B's device-tree overlays.

Status: first hardware report, 2026-08-03

This build has now booted on a real T976B — one unit, one tester, reported in the XDA thread. It was assembled from T976B firmware without the hardware present, and until that report every claim about it rested on build gates alone.

Confirmed by that report: boot and setup, S-Pen, 120 Hz, both speakers, a PIN that survives reboots, Google Play system updates installing, and a DRM-picky streaming app (Sky/WOW) playing.

Cellular does not work and will not. No 5G, no LTE, no SIM, no calls, no SMS — the system half of this ROM comes from a Wi-Fi-only tablet. Remove the SIM card, or the missing-modem error keeps reappearing; with it out, the message stops.

Reports being investigated:

  • One Bluetooth keyboard (LEICKE Sharon) pairs and then drops after a few seconds, no input.
  • The Book Cover keyboard's touchpad did not work for the same tester — on this ROM and on every other custom ROM they tried, so it may be the cover itself. The keyboard half works.

Download the stock T976B firmware for your CSC and install Odin before you flash. That is the only way back. This replaces boot, dtbo and the whole super partition; if it does not boot, there is nothing left on the tablet to roll back to.

If it fails to boot, before flashing anything else pull /sys/fs/pstore/ from TWRP over adb and report how far it got — Samsung logo, boot animation, or setup wizard.

Battery health measured from the fuel gauge, in-device updater; no cellular on this Wi-Fi-donor build

Check the download before you flash it. A truncated 5.8 GB file sideloads for twenty minutes and then fails:

sha256sum -c MinsOS_v0.3.4_20260804_gts7xl.zip.sha256

Before you flash

  • This wipes your data on a first install. Updating from a previous MinsOS does not.
  • Unlocking the bootloader permanently trips Knox. Samsung Pay, Secure Folder and the warranty are gone for good.
  • The ROM is pre-rooted and you cannot opt out. It ships the KernelSU-Next kernel and the manager app together; the manager installs itself on first boot. Do not flash a kernel afterwards — that unpairs them and root silently stops working.
  • Expect attestation-sensitive apps to behave differently than on stock.

Install

TWRP → Wipe → Format Data (first install only) → Advanced → ADB Sideload → adb sideload MinsOS_v0.3.4_20260804_gts7xl.zip → reboot. Wait until adb devices reports sideload before transferring; starting early sends zero bytes and still looks like it worked.

If a root manager says "not supported" after flashing, check which app you opened: an old me.weishu.kernelsu survives the flash and is a different app from com.rifsxd.ksunext.
