Midi Patch Changer was made, primarily, to work with SampleTank3 (MainStage-style app for Windows). ST3 has great free sounds, and a "LIVE" performance mode, where you create "sets" and "songs". In "LIVE" mode, ST3 can receive midi messages to move between songs and patches.
But ST3 has no easy way to just move from one song/patch, to the next / previous - hence, I wrote Midi Patch Changer. (Nothing else I could find online did similar). Midi Patch Changer takes midi input (eg. use particular notes to trigger changes up, or down); or PC keyboard keys; or - for touchscreen laptops - there are big, fat buttons to press.
Midi Patch Changer could work with other, similar programs, where you have a sequence of "songs" (ie. sound patches) that you want to be able to move up and down through. Midi Patch Changer is essentially like a midi translator - take an "incoming" midi message, and use it to trigger a number of "outgoing" midi messages.
