This is a soundfont instrument for performance and experiments with intonation systems. It is set up like an organ, while any instrument available in the sf2-format can be used. A database of several hundred tunings are included, and can be expanded by the user. Sources of these tunings are described in the manual.

This program is made with Max 7, and standalones are provided for Mac Osx Yosemite and High Sierra. On other systems you have to use the included max patches, and install the Fluidsynth version included in the 'dependencies' folder. Other Fluidsynth versions may not be compatible with this patch.

2020: The patch will need 64bit fluidsynth to work on Mojave. However, in the only 64bit version I have found, the 'tuning-keys' command will not work. This is important for the tuning systems included here. I cannot update this app to new computers until this has been sorted out.

R-udp-player
The R-udp-player is a fluidsynth player created as a microtonal playback app for Ircams Open Music, version 6.10 or later. Some settings need to be done in Open Music for this to work: In the midi settings of Open Music, choose 'osc-scoreplayer' as the default scoreplayer and check the option 'force score player'. R-udp-player is available as Max 8 patches and standalone apps. On others systems you will have to use the included max patches. Make sure you install the 64-bit fluidsynth object in the folder 'dependencies'. You can then save a standalone app for your own system. If the app is damaged, follow this guide: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6fqzb4qpgcs Use terminal: xattr -cr [drag in the file] Do not move the app or patch out of the folder, otherwise it won't find the necessary files. By default, there are 20 instruments playing 1/16-tones. It's easy to add more instruments editing the Max patch.

Rationale
A sequencer specialized for extended just intonation tuning systems. Rationale does not use scales, only collections of notes related by frequency ratio, infinitely transposable. Any rational frequency ratio can be an interval, but no tempered tunings.
