MELISSA will be a simple CRUD desktop (non-web) GUI application for PostgreSQL and implemented in Python with a database schema similar to, but not entirely compliant with the MIMOSA CRIS industry standard (

The non-compliance with MIMOSA CRIS will concern the restructuring of the data model to transform it into a SER model( in order to allow for easy bulk-extraction and -loading of data. The goal is to stay as compatible with MIMOSA CRIS as possible.

The GUI will be based on wxPython, PyQt or PyGTK (no choice made yet - planning stage) using one of the high-level database RAD frameworks available for Python such as Dabo (, PyPaPi (, QtAlchemy (, Camelot ( or Sqlkit ( The objective is to make the application run at least on Windows, MacOS X, Linux and BSD.
