MBR2 (MBR Squared)

MBR Squared is a 'Multi-Boot-Remote for the Master-Boot-Record'

This program allows you to easily and simply open a menu WITHIN THE CURRENT OS where you can choose which OS to REBOOT into! That simple!!

Yes, with these 'programs' you can open a dialog window in the current OS and click the icon of the Operating System you want to reboot into.
The computer shuts down and reboots into the chosen OS without you needing to do anything in GRUB, Limine, etc!
Seems like this should have been done long ago...

True Story:
In the beginning of 2007 Gregorian, I contacted SourceForge and requested to take over the 'dead' XOSL project. They made me project admin after
attempting to contact Guert, etc and getting no reply from anyone. I then opened a new project called XOSL2 where future development would happen
and put a link to it on the original XOSL project page. I intended to keep XOSL exactly as it was for honor and legacy purposes.

In XOSL2 I began reorganizing the original XOSL code and making modifications ALONG WITH ADDING SEPARATE PROGRAMS THAT INTERACTED WITH XOSL
ALLOWING YOU TO REBOOT INTO A DIFFERENT OS DIRECTLY FROM THE CURRENT OS! Nice! I know... why didn't you think of that! LOL

So, what happened? I was lied about and put in prison for over 14 years. Not nice. But I am back! And those of you who remember the XOSL2 project
will be glad to hear we are finishing it now! This time it will be a program that runs in Windows, another in Linux, BSD, MacOS (4 U Hackintosh gals and guys :), etc.
Every one of these SUB-programs (MBR2-Win, MBR2-Gnome, MBR2-KDE, etc.) will allow the user to select the boot loader (or maybe auto select ;)
so that it will function with GRUB or Limine, etc. When the MBR2 icon is clicked, a window will pop-up showing the icons you assigned to each OS.
Simply clicking the desired OS icon will shut down the computer and reboot into the chosen OS! Very, very nice!...You're welcome! :)
We will, of course, include a console version for those of you with tiny feet, no desktop needed!

How many of you have 'missed' the XOSL, GRUB, etc OS choice menu and ended up in an OS you didn't want to be in and had to reboot AGAIN!!! Blah!
LOL! You do remember that was a pretty big 'joke' among us multi OS guys and gals... still is isn't it? Or am I outdated? I am 50 now!
My youth was stolen.

Of course, a Windows program that interacts with GRUB, etc that reside in a Linux style partition will be ... un-simple?? LOL!
But we will make it happen. Any like Limine that you install in FATxx will be very easy! Nice little GUI and a bit of code and sha-bang!

I will call on my wife and programming partner, Queen B, a graphics girl (Facebook - Brand Builders By Bridgett)
to provide us with some very nice CC0 icons to choose from! I am thinking 5 different flavors for each OS.
So, 5 different Ubuntu, 5 different KDE, 5 different Windows 11, 5 different Debian, etc, etc.
This will allow those of you who, like me, use multiple copies of the same OS for testing purposes to quickly visually identify the desired OS.
Might do some overlays?? So, we get our KDE image on top of a Linux image?? or KDE on BSD??
Maybe a KDE ‘badge’ on a Linux image or vice versa. Also add the ability to add a number or letter badge
to the chosen icon or icon overlay so you can have KDE on BSD 1 and KDE on BSD 2, etc.
We will let QB figure that part out!

All ICONS and IMAGES are released under CC0. You're welcome!
MBR2 is released under GNU GPL 3.0 or greater! Also welcome!

GOD bless!
