MayaCalc by p4rAn0id (2012) ================================ This little app calculates the Mayadate. There are a lot online calculators for that and i wrote it because i'm intressted in the MayaMath and their calendar. Feel free to rate, comment and share this tool. !!! Support the Occupy Movement !!! We are the 99% !!! !!! We arn't their slaves !!!! Report Ideas and Bugs at: https://sourceforge.net/p/mayacalculator/tickets/ FAQ - or something else ----------------------- Q: What does MayaCalc? A: According to the given gregorian Date it generates the mayan Date inclusive Tzolkin and Haab. Q: Why you prefer the Thompson-Method? A: Because it meets the most dates from our and the mayan calendar. And on the other side it makes more sense that the calendar starts/ends with the winter solstice. Q: Why you don't use Pictun and above? A: Pictun and above came from the MayanMath. There they get used to describe high numbers. But in the Calender they respected the cycles more (else why 13 baktuns and not 20 and 18 Uinal and not 20?). So i implement a bit my own understanding of the calendar. commonly they count 20 baktun for 1 pictun but this is not conform with a calendar that jump to 0 after 13 baktuns. calculating with pictun and above - they was in modern times 'invented' by some scientist (as i said above, pictun came from the MayaMath but hadn't to do anything with the Calendar) - is unneccessary, complicate and not really logic, practicable and usefull. Also with Pictuns the great cycles get somehow ignored. This is of the limitations by the .NET Framework's DatePicker. I'm working on a solution for that. ToDo: - too much to list here - add possibility to copy the MayaDate - add calculations (MayaDate->GregorianDate) - give the possibility to define the point where the day should change. currently it is at midnight and it can get defined to use the local or UTC time. but as i read somewhere, the Tzolkin-Day begin at sunrise. - make dates available beyond the limitations of the .NET - a little MayaNumberGenerator The Mayas write all numbers with 3 symbols Changelog/History ------------------ MayaCalc v0.1.4661.24110 (05.10.2012) 12.19.19.14.3 (5{hoo} Akbal 6{uac} Yax) - down-sized the images for the Haab now the app is under 500kb (before 1.2MB) The hi-res images are still available in the source package - added MayanNumberNames MayaCalc v0.1.4659.38615 (03.10.2012) 12.19.19.14.1 (3 Imix 4 Yax) ~ Bugfix: the MayaDate's after our 21.12.2012 now get displayed correct - for future use i implemented some calculations of the CosmicDay(i call it a CosmicYear) and the mayan Worlds. 13 Baktuns are one World and 5 Worlds are a CosmicYear. MayaCalc v0.1.4658.38444 (02.10.2012) 12.19.19.14.0 (2 Ahau 3 Yax) ~ Bugfix: changed the method how the Juliandate get calculated - implemented UTC / Local Time - changed the Images for the Haab saddly this pumped up the size of the app dramatically when i have the time i downsize the used hi-res images took the Mayan_Zodiac_Circle.jpg from wikipedia and cutted the Haab's out of it (i'm intrested what's the meaning of the symbol in the middle. it lifts an unknown haab? or what is the men doing?) MayaCalc v0.1.4653.893 (27.09.2012) 12.19.19.13.15 (10 Men 18 Chen) - implemented images for Tzolin, Haab and Numbers - calculating JulianDate from gregorian Date - calculating the MayaDate from the JulianDate - calculating Tzolkin and Haab from MayaDate and print out the images of them
