1. Manjaro

We are happy to announce another maintenance release for Manjaro 0.8.5, released one month ago. With this update we adjusted or install medias to the new repository structure as we have now. This will ease the installation of Manjaro Linux for new users a lot. Also we fixed slight issues we found in our initial release of Manjaro 0.8.5 and our first maitenance release

In respect to the official flavours, a more detailed list of the most significant general changes made are as follows:

  • Graphical installer updated and translated to followed locales: ca, de, el, en, es, it, pt_BR, pt_PT and ro
  • Manjaro Settings Manager updated
  • LXDM/Slim as display managers
  • Linux 3.8.11 as our kernel
  • GTK 3.8 update
  • Additional multimedia support, applications, and access to the AUR have been pre-installed

The Net-Edition doesn't have printing capabilities and all multimedia codecs, or pulseaudio support pre-installed. These can be installed and enabled with the following commands if required:

  • sudo pacman -Sy manjaro-printer && sudo systemctl enable cups.service
  • sudo pacman -Sy manjaro-pulse
  • sudo pacman -Sy gstreamer0.10-plugins gst-plugins

With Manjaro 0.8.5 we re-introduced the support for Catalyst out-of-the-box.

2. Manjaro Flavours

Both 32 and 64 bit versions of Manjaro are available in the following flavours (i.e. with the following desktop environments pre-installed):

  • XFCE 4.10
  • Openbox 3.50
  • Net-Edition

Cinnamon, KDE, E17, LXDE and MATE can be installed from our Community Editions released when ready.

Razor-QT and other window-manager are also available for installation from the Official Manjaro repositories.

5.1 Account Name

6. Create reliable install media

A good start is to read our Wiki. To create reliable installation media, use K3B or Nero. Manjaro ISO's do support unetbootin, and CD/DVD's need a burn speed no higher then 4x.

7. Manjaro Checksums

For use to determine the integrity of downloaded ISO files. Further information can be found on our wiki
