Magnetissimo 3.1 can crawl the BitTorrent DHT. Switch it on at /dht, and it walks the peer-to-peer network in the background. It indexes torrents nobody has searched for yet, with their file lists, a category and a seeder estimate.
:::bash
docker pull ghcr.io/sergiotapia/magnetissimo:3.1.0
See the README for what the crawler does to a home router and why you may want a VPN.
What's new
- A DHT crawler, off until you turn it on. The
/dhtpage has an on/off switch and a rate slider (gentle, normal, max). Each stop shows the router load and yield measured on a home connection: from about 900 torrents an hour atgentleto about 7,000 atmax. The settings are saved in the database and apply immediately. - Live finds.
/dhtshows the latest hundred torrents as they arrive, with their seeder and leecher estimates (BEP 33) and how hard the crawler is working. - File lists. A DHT torrent keeps its file list. The torrent page shows it, and search matches file names too: a torrent named for a show is found by an episode's file name.
- Gentle on your network. The crawler is a read-only node (BEP 43), so nothing needs forwarding and it works behind NAT and in Docker as is. Every packet waits its turn in one budget, and TCP connections close with a reset so the router can free their entries.
- Categories read from the torrent itself. The DHT says nothing about what a torrent is, so Magnetissimo reads the name and files. It recognises:
- TV in many languages, plus dated shows and sports
- anime season packs and fansub releases
- Japanese and Western adult releases
- doujinshi and image sets
- audiobooks, PC games, console images
- quality from the source (Remux → BluRay, DVD9 → DVD, rips → SD)
When a site later returns the same torrent, the site's category replaces the guess.
- A banned-keyword list keeps child sexual abuse material out of the index, and private torrents (BEP 27) are never indexed.
- DHT torrents stay out of the views without a search ("Fresh magnets", the Torznab RSS poll and
/api/latest), so they don't flood what Sonarr and Radarr poll. Pick the DHT source chip to browse them. - A source with no swarm numbers (AudioBookBay, the DHT) no longer resets the seeders another source counted.
Upgrading from 3.0
Pull the new image and restart. The release migrates on boot, and the crawler starts off.
